Chinese calendar Chinese years

The Chinese calendar combines the 5-year cycle of the Heavenly Stems (the Five Elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water), with the 12-year cycle of the Earthly Branches (the twelve Zodiac animal signs: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig).

This combination creates a 60-year cycle which always starts with Wood Rat and ends with Water Pig.
